Here’s an SEO Secret that ANYONE can use…

As I said way back in 2013, search engine optimization is getting harder and harder. The so-called “secret techniques” of getting ranked on page 1 have become increasingly vague and nebulous, and results have been less predictable and less reliable. Truth be told, nowadays, the only tactic that can guarantee you page 1 rankings is Pay per Click, which I have openly acknowledged might now be a better investment than SEO.
But fortunately, there’s still one trick that Google actually LIKES, and in fact ENCOURAGES you to do. It’s much more precise, with much more predictable and reliable results. I wrote about it last year, saying “you should claim and update all those online directories that list your company for free.”
As I said, it’s a no-brainer smart thing to do, because it will:
- Permanently increase your presence and visibility all over the Internet. (In a smart and logical way, rather than with a bunch of fleeting and meaningless “puff pieces” on social media.)
- Provide you with good, solid, valuable inbound links from high-reputation websites. (Google has ALWAYS liked this.)
- Help you compete, since your competitors are already listed on all these free directory sites anyway.
The only downside to this trick is it’s a little bit tedious. You have to go to each one of these sites and claim your listing, and check the accuracy, and request edits, and upload photos and logos, etc. It’s fun and rewarding for the first 4 or 5, but tedious when you realize you’ve still got another 50+ websites to go.
