“USTREAM.TV”

Yet another way to drive FREE website traffic…

By Brett Lloyd Abbott, MYM Austin Inc.

My SEO specialist Sharron “texted” me last week with an excited message. (We seem to “text” a lot around here at MYM Austin, using “Skype.” We’re not 20-somethings or 30-somethings, but for some reason we text more than we pick up the phone or walk over to someone else’s desk. I guess this means we’re keeping up with the times….)

In any case, Sharron was beside herself with glee. She’d just discovered the latest, greatest secret weapon in the battle for SEO Supremacy. In January, she was pumped up about Google’s announcement that “Video is King.”  But this was bigger. I seriously thought she was going to pee her pants. Which is not easy to deduce when you’re texting.

“Have you ever heard of USTREAM-TV?”

Right. Like I’m going to know more about “cutting-edge SEO Supremacy” tactics than my specialist. I don’t think so. “Ummm, no….”

“Oh, Man, it’s amazing! It’s a FREE SERVICE,” (that’s a good start…) “that you can use to create your own on-line TV shows!”

Huh? “And that’s good, right?”

“Oh yeah! You can do real time presentations, and invite guests to participate. And it will record it all so you can post to your website, or You Tube, or whatever.

“And that’s good, right?”

“Oh yeah! It’s got so much power! You can present images, slides, yourself. And you can link it to Twitter!”

Oh crap. I know what Twitter is, (even if I don’t know “why”” Twitter is). So that means I’m supposed to know why linking to Twitter is good….

“Even Facebook!”

White flag. Truce. I give up. I may be “texting” around the office, but I’m not a Twitter or Facebook or MySpace devotee. Clearly, I’m over my head. “Sounds like a real red-letter day for Sharron….”

“Big time!”

“Umm, I’m just curious. Do you think maybe we can use this to help our clients skunk the competition with SEO?”

“Oh, Yes. Big time!”

OK, now you’ve got my attention. I’m starting to catch on here. The dawn is breaking. I think I see the light. We can create fresh video content using this free service, then post it on the internet, and then point it back to our clients’ websites. (Or FaceBook or MySpace, for some of our “younger” clients.) It should definitely help drive up the rankings with the Search Engines.

Sounds like great potential, and I’m glad we’re on the cutting edge. The only problem is I’ve never used it. And before I can recommend it and instruct my clients on how to use it, I’ve got to learn to use it myself.

So that’s what I’m doing today. I’m broadcasting this newsletter on USTREAM.TV. I’ve created a show called “Pool Builder Marketing by MYM Austin.”  It should be viewable here: www.ustream.tv/recorded/1595781.  Note – Watching this video is by no means a requirement of reading this newsletter. It’s really just a test of the system. If I find this new “USTREAM TV” beneficial, I’ll be sure to give you an update in a future newsletter.

Meanwhile, if you’re the adventurous sort, and want to try USTREAM.TV yourself, you can create your own free account at www.USTREAM.TV.

Meanwhile, I wish you the best of success with your business, and I hope with a little help like this, your SEO rankings shoot right through the roof!

Best regards,

Brett
